Romania

Hi, my name is Stefan Stanciu. My friends and
I have been learning about the events of the Holocaust that took place in Romania. As you may already know that on 29th June 1941 over 10,000 Jewish men, women and children were murdered in Iasi. Where our school is, was once a thriving Jewish community.

It is dificult to understand why the Jewish and Roma Sinti people had suffered such persecution during that time in Romania and the rest of Europe.

We began our journey of discovery by visiting the various sites which is linked to the Jewish community such as the train station and Jewish cemetery. We also heard the story of Liezer Finkelstein, one of the last 2 remaining Jewish Holocaust survivors of Iasi. We would like to share some of his story with you.
