Romania’s landscape makes it one of the most beautiful countries. It is a pity it is not as thriving as it should be from the economic point of view. Its relief is complex: mountains, hills, plains, rivers, plateaus. I love the wild life from the Danube Delta, the sun rising over the Black Sea, Romanian’s hospitality, Romania’s legends, past, monasteries (one of the most beautiful and unique heritage). Such a past was bound to create a great range of artistic and cultural achievements.

I live in Iasi: the economic, cultural and academic center of the Romanian region of Moldavia. I have been living here since I was born and I think that this city is special. It has the oldest Romanian university (which accommodates over 60.000 students), the oldest theatre in Romania (the National Theatre), the oldest and largest Botanical Garden in Romania, an array of museums and memorial houses, an independent theater. I like Iasi because it is an outstanding educational center and preserves its heritage and the beautiful binding of the past and present.

I have been studying at “Vasile Alecsandri” High School since 1st grade. I wanted to be here because it is a relaxed atmosphere during the classes - thanks to our teachers and to my classmates even though there are a lot of things left to do here. I like the fact that we can do a lot of projects and trips from which we can learn new interesting things.

 
I like where I live and learn but I would like to experience the life of other countries.

I live in Romania, a land full of loving people and traditions. Romania had a very tumultuous past. Many people tried to invade our land, but very few succeeded. Thanks to our great rulers in the past, Romania has remained until this day an independent country. Romania is not such a developed country, but instead it is filled with beautiful landscapes. It has everything from mountains to seaside. In my opinion, the mountains are worth visiting, but the seaside still needs to be changed.

My beloved city is called Iasi. It is situated in the north-east part of the country. It has a very old foundation, in fact this year we celebrate 600 years since its first documentary certificate. Iasi is the cultural centre of the region, it has the Palace of Culture- an old, imposing building filled with museums of art, science, folklore. There are lots of parks and in a couple of years a big project – The Pals Project will come into life- one of the biggest park in Europe -which will contain everything-from office buildings to swimming pools.

The year 2008 is my first year as a high school student at ' Vasile Alecsandri' High School. It is in the centre of the city, near a Shopping Mall. It is a well known school I wanted to attend. Being here for just 2 months I could say that I had no problems in getting used to the program, the teachers and the classmates. They are all great.

In Romania you can find almost all sorts of relief-from the majestic, breathtaking mountains of the Fagaras to the marvelous Danube Delta and the amazing blue Black Sea Coast. Once you step in my country you can have lots of interesting destinations for your holiday.

The Romanians are friendly and warm - a thing that makes the newcomers who start a new life here to adapt easily. Romanians are also open to suggestions and fast learners.

Romania has been a member of the EU for three years but it still has a lot of work to do in order to become a great and respected country. If our nation strove to make a name for itself in the past, now it is our turn, the new generation to show that Romania is not just about Dracula, beautiful women and handicapped children. In order to achieve that we have to struggle to be the best at what we are good at and learn to respect ourselves and the others.

I have the strong belief that one day, hopefully in my lifetime, I will live in a powerful, developed and modern Romania.

Personally, my hometown Iasi is one of the most beautiful and quietest cities.

Some people might consider it boring, some might complain that it is too small but I for one think that it is the perfect place to spend your adolescence. Besides Iasi has got very good schools and universities which prepare us all for the future.

I have been studying at 'Vasile Alecsandri' High School since 1st grade. I enjoy my life here a lot. If I were to change my high school I wouldn't do it because learning here for so long made me think of my school as a second home. The best thing about my school are definitely the teachers, who tend to be really involved in modeling our future and above all they are very caring.

My impression about my country is that it has memorable mountainous views. I really love hiking and going on trips. Another part of my country that makes me love it more is the Northern part – the unique monasteries. As for the sunny beaches on the Black Sea Coast I feel that God has blessed us twice.

The city of Iasi has been my home since I was born. It has good schools and cultural institutions. The inhabitants are warm and kind.
'Vasile Alecsandri' High School has a challenging atmosphere - students get involved in projects, enjoy taking part in competitions and are interested in acquiring a high level of education.

The country I live in… the one called Romania. Every foreigner that comes here says that it is a marvelous country, with beautiful landscapes and warm, generous people. Of course, when asked, they also say that they would love to stay here, but for one or two weeks only, which is quite a lot of time, if you think about it. Yes, I agree, God blessed us, we have the mountains and we also have the sea. But that’s not it and it’s not all of it. There are people who can make one proud of being Romanian, either if they lived before one was born or are still living these days. They also like their country, but only during holidays (this is for the ones that aren’t living here any longer). As a regular citizen of Romania, I could start complaining, though I’m not working neither am I on my own, but that’s what everyone else does; not only here, but all around the world.

Despite that, I can say I like my city, Iasi, the cultural capital of Moldavia; one city full of history, which was close of becoming Romania’s capital city (yeah, I know, this could have brought us all of today’s great bands and singers –internationally speaking-: more quality concerts-I’m saying this although I’m rarely going to this kind of events). Besides, it’s a University Center, where people gather to classes, wishing to complete their academic studies. I can say I’m a lucky one, not having to leave my hometown for that. Till then, I have to finish high school. I’ve just started it, I’m in the 9th grade (a 1st year-hooray, the prom is coming) in a real profile (biiig mistake, but I have to keep learning, so I can have a serious option for university -this reminds me: have to keep asking God for help and to also thank Him by going to the church more often-we’re said to be a very religious people, also thanks to our former rulers, especially from the Middle Ages, who took care of building the churches or restoring them; one good example is Stephen the Great, a Moldavian ruler, who took care to build a church every time he won a battle).

I think that one of our big problems is the old mentality, which should be changed, little by little, to help the young ones and to also appease the conflict between generations.
