14 January: The Kigali Memorial Centre welcomed a special guest, Yang Jiechi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, who was on a 22-hour visit to Rwanda. |

5 February: More than 40 African parliamentarians visited KMC. Most of them commented on the tragic history of Rwanda. They said that all Africans should fight against genocidal ideology, so that genocide does not happen again in other parts of the world, especially Africa. |

5 February: KMC welcomed some local and regional musicians who came to visit the memorial. Among these artists was David K Mathenge known as Nameless from Kenya; Khalid Mohamed known as TID from Tanzania; Bleu 3, a group from Uganda; Jean Pierre Nimbona, known as Kidumu from Burundi; and Jean Paul Samputu, a Rwandan artist living in Canada. |

16 February: Somalian President H.E Sharif Sheikh Ahmed visited KMC, accompanied by some officials, while he was in the country on a two-day visit. |

25 February: KMC welcomed Brigadier General Michael Callan, the US 17th Air Force Vice Commander (Air Force Africa), who was in the country to meet different officials, including the Chief of Staff of the army, General James Kabarebe. |

2 April: Rwandans prepare to commemorate the 15th Anniversary of the Genocide in Rwanda. Among the highlights is the Lighting of Candles which will be staged at the National Stadium. |

| Paul Benjamin composes song for genocide survivors |
9 February: After winning a free trip to Rwanda at the beginning of this year, Canadian musician Paul Benjamin and his wife LeeAnne came to Rwanda in February to help charities and genocide survivors. In particular, Paul composed a song for genocide survivors called “Sleep my child”.
After touring the exhibition and memorials, Paul said that more artists should come to Rwanda to see for themselves what happened here and think about how they could be useful to Rwanda. |
